Speaker Bio:
Jihad Turk is the founding president of Bayan Claremont, an Islamic graduate school in Southern California, and a well-respected leader and public speaker with a national profile. Prior to founding Bayan, Jihad served for many years as the Religious Director of the Islamic Center of Southern California, the oldest and largest mosque in the Los Angeles area.

Jihad spent his college years traveling the Muslim world and exploring his roots in the Islamic tradition. He spent time in both the Islamic University of Medina where he studied Arabic and Islamic Studies and in Iran where he studied Farsi at the University of Tehran and in Qum. He completed his undergraduate study at the University of California, Berkeley, where he received his bachelor’s degree in History and Arabic. Jihad went on to complete his Master’s degree at the University of Texas, Austin in Arabic and Islamic law and jurisprudence.

His field of research focuses on Islamic Law with an emphasis on usul al-fiqh, or jurisprudence, as well as theology. His current interests also include identity formation in the American Muslim community, interfaith relations, Islamic reform movements, and community leadership and development with a focus on youth.

Enrollment for Tahfee-ul-Qur'an with Islamic Studies and online schooling is currently in progress. Please register your child at the earliest convenience as seats are limited. Darul Uloom will start on July 17, 2016 Insha Allah. Boarding students are requested to report on Sunday, July 17th at 7pm. Non-boarding students can report on Monday, July18th at 7:30am.

This event is free and open to the public. If you have ever struggled with how to understand mental health and domestic violence from an Islamic and psychological perspective OR if you wonder how to deliver short, easy talking points on these topics in your khutbahs (sermons), lectures or classrooms, worry no more! MashaAllah our guest speaker is a trained psychologist and is also trained in Islamic studies and can help us work through pressing issues affecting our community today. Insha Allah Ramadan is 30 days and insha Allah Eid ul-Fitr is on Wednesday. Please come tonight (Monday) for the last night of Taraweeh. Continue fasting on Tuesday and insha Allah come to Al-Farooq Masjid early on Wednesday. Insha Allah the bayan starts at 8:15am sharp, the first salah is at 8:30am and the second is at 9:15am. May Allah SWT accept all your efforts in Ramadan, bless you and your families tremendously and grant you all Jannatul Firdous.

Please join us at Masjid Omar Bin Abdul Aziz tonight for Khatamul Quran. Insha Allah (God willing) Isha starts at 10:29pm today.

Also, another notice for Masjid Omar Bin Abdul Aziz is regarding Eid Salah. Insha Allah they will have plenty of parking and also complimentary valet parking. The first Salah is at 8am, second at 9am, and the third at 9:45am.

Insha Allah please visit this website on Monday (July 4th) evening after Maghrib for an announcement on Eid ul-Fitr. Insha Allah Eid ul-Fitr will either be on Tuesday or Wednesday. Insha Allah don't forget to pay $8/person before Salatul'Eid. Insha Allah you can pay online here...

Khatmul Qur'an and Inspirational Talks Tonight!

Khatmul Qur'an and Dua is tonight. Don't miss out! Isha starts at 10:30 pm insha'Allah. 

After khatam tonight (around 12:30am), we will have motivational short talks and qiyaam-ul-layl (night prayers). Speakers list includes:

                       Hafiz Omer Kamal

Qiyamul-Layl will take place every night at 3:00 am.

Zakat-ul-Fitr: $8 per person to be paid before Salatul'Eid.

Zakat-ul-fitr should be paid by every adult Muslim, with sufficient food for the family for a day, for himself/herself and all his/her dependents including a newborn child. Zakat al-Fitr should preferably be paid early enough so it will reach the needy and the poor before the Eid day. It will enable them to use it for food and clothes and give them the opportunity to enjoy the happiness of Eid-ul-Fitr.
